Audiences
Named lists of your contacts, filled by hand or from a CSV file, to send to and to watch grow.
Details
- Audiences, in the sidebar, holds the lists you send to. Every workspace has All contacts, which every contact joins and which cannot be emptied or deleted, and up to 100 lists in all, each with a name and a description.
- Add people by pasting addresses or loading a CSV file, and an address that is not a contact yet becomes one. The import works out whether the file uses commas, semicolons or tabs, finds the email column under any of its usual names, and takes a name, or a first and a last name, when the file has them. Invalid rows are skipped, repeats count once, and a contact you already have keeps the name it has. Download as CSV gives a list back with each address, its name, the date it was added and when they last wrote.
- Each member shows as Subscribed or Unsubscribed. Somebody unsubscribes through the link in an email sent to the list, which unsubscribes them from every list that email went to, and signing up again through a form subscribes them again. The Status filter shows either, or everyone.
- Growth charts how the lists change over a window from an hour to all time: contacts over time, people added, unsubscribes, the busiest days and which lists grew most, for one list or up to 50 at once. Removals are not drawn, because removing somebody deletes the membership rather than marking it.
- Everyone but the workspace owner sees the lists they created and All contacts, with only the contacts they added themselves, and their imports and exports touch only those.
- The same is on the REST API under /audiences, on the SDK as audiences, on the command line as openemail audiences and on the MCP server. Lists can also come across from Mailchimp, SendGrid, Mailgun or Resend with one key, under Migrations → From a provider.
