Merged inboxes

Read every address in one stream, or narrow to the two or three you actually work out of.

Details

  • The sidebar switcher ticks addresses rather than picking one: any combination of them, grouped under the domain they belong to. An empty filter means all of them, so unticking one address from the merged view leaves you with everything except that one. The last ticked address cannot be unticked, because nothing selected is already how “everything” is stored.
  • The selection lives in the URL as [email protected],[email protected], so a narrowed view survives a reload and is a link you can send. Names that no longer resolve (an address deleted, a share revoked, one belonging to a mailbox you are not reading) stay in the URL and are dropped on the way to the server, because a mailbox shared with you refuses the whole request over a single address you were not granted. Drop them all and the filter degrades to the merged view rather than to an empty inbox.
  • A catch-all domain gets one *@domain row, last in its group, standing for the addresses nobody created (the ones delivery recorded because mail arrived for them), so they do not bury the handful you made yourself. Tick it to see only those; on a domain that has caught nothing yet it answers with an empty list rather than refusing to be pressed. Creating one of them as a named address moves it out of the bucket and onto a row of its own.
  • The workspace switcher at the top of the rail holds every workspace you can open side by side with the one that is open now: the ones you own and the ones you were invited into.
