Remote image control

Stop a sender fetching anything from their own server while you read.

Details

  • A remote image is a request to the sender’s machine carrying your IP address and the moment you opened the mail. One switch in Account → Privacy turns all of them off.
  • The exceptions stay narrow: a trusted-sender list for people you name, and a show-images-once button on the message in front of you.
  • Inline attachments render either way, since those arrived with the message rather than being fetched from anywhere.
  • The switch ships on, so remote images load until you turn it off.
