Out of office
One reply to each person while you are away.
Give an address a start, an end and a message, then switch it on. Each person who writes to it while you are away gets your reply once.
In short
What is an out of office reply?
An out of office reply is an automatic answer that tells people you are away and when you will be back. Here each address has its own, with dates and your own words, and each sender gets it once for the whole time you are gone.
How it works
One reply per sender
Each sender gets the reply once for the whole time you are away, however often they write. Newsletters, automatic mail, bounces and spam get none, and neither do blocked senders or your own addresses.
A banner while it is on
While a reply is on, a banner sits on the mailbox and names the address. Change opens the reply, and Turn off stops it without leaving the inbox.
One reply on several addresses
Apply to other addresses copies the saved reply and its dates to the addresses you tick, replacing what they had.
What you get
In the product today
From the address they wrote to
The reply goes out from the address the mail arrived at, in the same conversation, with no tracking and no signature.
Only people you know
Only reply to my contacts answers your contacts and people you have written to, and nobody else.
From code as well
The REST API, the SDKs, the command line and the MCP server can set and clear a reply too.
Good practice
Getting the most out of it
- 01
Say when you are back
Put your return date in the message, and who to write to if it cannot wait.
- 02
Set the end before you leave
With an end date the reply stops by itself, so nobody is told you are away after you are back.
- 03
Switch it on ahead of time
Pick a start in the future and switch it on before your last day. Replies begin at the start you set.
