Delivery status
Who it reached, and who it did not.

Every message you send keeps a timeline, recipient by recipient, and a red warning in the list marks any that ran into trouble.

In short

What does delivered mean for an email?

Delivered means the receiving server accepted the message. Delivery status follows every recipient to that point, and the Activity tab shows each step on the way.

How it works

A red warning in the list

A message that bounced, was reported as spam, was held back or failed carries a red warning in the Inbox and Sent lists and in its header. Hover it to read how many recipients it affected and the reason the receiving server gave.

The timeline, recipient by recipient

Every message you send has an Activity tab with each step for each recipient: accepted, queued or scheduled, sent, delivered, delayed, bounced, reported as spam, held back or not sent.

Bounces are filed and remembered

A bounce that arrives as an email joins the conversation it belongs to, labelled Bounced. A hard bounce or a spam report also puts the address on Blocked addresses, so the next message to it is held back rather than sent.

What you get

In the product today

One search for every bounce

Type is:bounced to find every bounce that arrived as an email.

A mark means a problem

A warning in the list means something went wrong, and every delivery is on its Activity tab.

On the API and in webhooks

The REST API, the SDK, the command line and the MCP server return the same record, and webhooks such as email.bounced carry it.

Good practice

Getting the most out of it

  1. 01

    Read the reason first

Hover the warning before you resend to read the receiving server’s reason, then open the Activity tab to see each recipient.

  2. 02

    Check Blocked addresses

When a message is held back, look for the address in Blocked addresses. A hard bounce or a spam report puts it there.

  3. 03

    Tell your own systems

Subscribe to the email.bounced and email.complained webhooks, so your own systems learn about a bad address too.
