Snooze
Out of the inbox until it is due.
Pick a date and a time, and the conversation leaves the inbox. It waits under Snoozed, then comes back on its own.
In short
What does snoozing an email do?
Snoozing hides a conversation until a time you choose, so the inbox holds only what you can act on now. Here it waits under Snoozed and comes back when it is due, or sooner if a new message arrives in it.
How it works
Snooze from the list
Right-click a conversation, use the bar that appears when several are selected, or drag conversations onto Snoozed in the sidebar. Each way asks for a date and a time.
Back just as it left
Once the time you set has passed, the conversation is back in the inbox, read or unread just as you left it.
New mail wakes it early
When a message arrives in the conversation, it is back in the inbox at once and unread, like any new mail. Your own reply leaves it snoozed.
What you get
In the product today
Inbox, archive and labels
Snooze from the inbox, the archive or any label view.
Change your mind
Unsnooze brings it back now, and snoozing it again replaces the time.
From code as well
The REST API, the SDK, the command line and the MCP server can snooze and unsnooze too.
Good practice
Getting the most out of it
- 01
Snooze to when you can act
Pick the time you will actually deal with it, so it returns ready to be answered rather than snoozed again.
- 02
Keep Snoozed short
A few snoozed conversations are a plan, and fifty are a second inbox. Archive what no longer needs you, which also ends its snooze.
- 03
Snooze what you are waiting on
Waiting for an answer? Snooze the thread, and if they write back it returns at once, unread.
