Checks on every message
Every score shows its working.
Open the Details tab of a message you received and six tiles say what we found, with every check behind the scores listed underneath.
In short
What are message checks?
Message checks are tests on a message you received, each answering one question about it. Here they sit as six tiles in the Details tab: Spam score, Phishing score, AI score, Trackers, Sender and Encryption. Spam, phishing and AI writing are scored out of 100.
How it works
Every check behind the score
Under a tile, What we look for lists each check behind it with its mark, such as flagged or clear. On a warning, Why we flagged this opens the same list.
Scored out of 100
Spam reads as unlikely under 35 and likely from 60. Phishing reads as worth a second look from 30 and a scam from 60, and AI writing as possible from 35 and likely from 60.
Trackers, counted and named
Trackers counts the open pixels and tracked links in a message and names the hosts they report to. It also says whether a pixel could see you open it, which depends on whether remote images are showing.
What you get
In the product today
The worst one first
When the Details tab opens, the worst finding is already selected.
Signs that add up
The spam score adds up signs such as a failed sender check, a Re: that answers nothing, a subject in capitals, money bait and link shorteners.
Older and imported mail
Mail that arrived before the checks existed, and mail you import, is scored too, when you open it.
Good practice
Getting the most out of it
- 01
Read the list under the number
The score gives the verdict. What we look for shows the checks behind it, one by one.
- 02
Check Trackers before showing images
A tracking pixel can see you open a message only while remote images are showing.
- 03
Look twice from 30
A phishing score of 30 or more is worth a second look before you click a link or reply.
