Where it starts ## What this looks like today. Your domain points at the old host Every address people already write to is served by the provider you want to leave. The history lives in that account That mailbox holds years of threads, with the attachments and the filing you did. Addresses nobody set up Invoices, alerts and old sign-ups still arrive at names no one remembers creating. How it works ## Running in four steps. 1. 01 Add the domain Settings, Domains, Add generates the records, wherever the domain is registered. 2. 02 Publish the records Copy them at your DNS host, or connect one that supports sync and let it write them. 3. 03 Add the addresses Create each name your old host served, then invite the person who reads it. 4. 04 Read them all in one stream The addresses you created land in one place, and you reply from the exact one written to. What it runs on ## The parts doing the work. The move runs on these parts of OpenEmail. Bring your old mailbox Bring the mail you already have: a Google Takeout export from Gmail, or an .mbox file from Apple Mail, Thunderbird and most desktop apps, threaded and dated as it was. Take your mail with you One download from Settings → Export with everything in it: every message and attachment as mbox files another mail app opens, plus your contacts, calendar, labels, rules, templates, notes and settings. Forward an address elsewhere Point any address, or everything a domain accepts, at an outside mailbox instead of this one. No. Point the ones you are ready for at OpenEmail, and forward any other address, or everything the domain accepts, to an outside mailbox. That destination clicks a confirmation link first. Can I bring my old mail across? Yes. Export the old mailbox, with Google Takeout for Gmail or as an .mbox from Apple Mail or Thunderbird, and upload it in Settings under Import. It arrives threaded, dated and filed as it was. Can I move more than one domain? Yes. Point several domains at one inbox, subdomains included, and read them all in the same stream.
