The invisible image that tells a sender you opened their mail is gone before the message reaches you. Anything declaring itself 1×1 or 0×0 is removed server side, along with the hidden preheader blocks that carry the same trick. A remote image is a request to the sender’s machine carrying your IP address and the moment you opened the mail. One switch in Account → Privacy turns all of them off, and the exceptions stay narrow: senders you name as trusted, and a show-images-once button on the message in front of you. Nothing about your mail is sold, and nothing is sold against it. Your old address keeps working. Set a forward at the provider you are leaving and its mail lands here beside everything else, for as long as you care to leave it forwarding. There is nothing to migrate and no day on which you have to switch. They all read as one list. The sidebar switcher ticks addresses rather than picking one, so you can read everything at once or narrow to a single address.
