# Tracking on your own domain with your name on the link

Tracked links and the open pixel move onto a subdomain you choose. Add one CNAME record, and links carry that name once a check passes.

## What is a custom tracking domain?

Every tracked link and open pixel points at a web address, usually the email service's. A custom tracking domain moves it onto a subdomain of the sender's own domain.

How it works

## One CNAME record to add

Setting the name prepares its own address and shows one record. Add it at your DNS provider, or press Sync on a Cloudflare-connected domain.

## It checks itself and falls back

A check over HTTPS switches it on. Three failures in a row, or two hours without a pass, put links back on the OpenEmail address.

## Mail already sent keeps its name

Links in it keep working while the old CNAME record stays. On a Cloudflare-connected domain, changing or removing the name takes that record out, so they stop.

The REST API sets or clears it on the domain.

Tracking and nothing else
