## What are per-address email settings?

Mail settings usually live in one place, which works until one address needs a different sign-off. Layered settings store only what each level changes, and the rest follows the level above.

How it works

## One answer for every address

All addresses is the workspace layer. It applies to everything the workspace sends, and whatever it leaves unset follows your account.

## An address can answer for itself

billing@ can sign as the accounts team and send receipts untracked, while every other address keeps what All addresses uses.

## Every send asks the From address

Composer, API, assistant, rule or schedule: each send is signed and tracked by its From address, falling back to All addresses.

## Set once for every address

All addresses can override each one. Anything left unset keeps your account's value.

Absent means inherit

A layer stores only what it changes.

Clearing means following

An override is deleted, not frozen as a copy of today's value.

The address owns it

Everyone who sends from an address uses its signature and tracking.

## Getting the most out of it

   Start at All addresses
   
   Set the signature and tracking there, then override an address only where it differs.

   Leave the rest following
   
   Addresses with no override pick up later changes on their own.

   Reset rather than retype
   
   “Use All addresses” returns a setting to following. Retyping the value pins a copy.
