# Meetings & calendar Meetings, and the mail still waiting.

An invitation that arrives becomes an event you answer with Yes, Maybe or No. Mail queued for later sits on the same grid.

In short

## What is a calendar invitation?

An invitation is an ordinary email carrying a small calendar part: an id, a time, an organiser and guests. Every answer or change is another email with the same id.

How it works

## An invitation arrives as a meeting

The calendar part is read on delivery. Answering sends the organiser a reply that names only you, so it never restates anyone else's answer.

## Invitations other calendars read

A meeting you create sends a real invitation that Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail draw as their own card. Editing re-invites everyone. Cancelling tells them.

## Queued mail on the same grid

Mail queued for Tuesday morning sits on Tuesday morning. Open it to edit the recipients or wording, move it, or stop it.

## What travels between calendars

Invitations and answers are written in these. You never type them.

METHOD:REQUEST an invitation or an update METHOD:REPLY your answer, naming only you METHOD:CANCEL the meeting called off FREQ=WEEKLY;INTERVAL=2 every other week

What you get

## In the product today

Five ways to repeat

Daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly or yearly.

Imported rules are kept

A repeat this list does not offer survives an unrelated edit.

Steady across clock changes

A repeating 09:00 standup stays at 09:00 through a daylight-saving change.

All-day events stay put

Stored as a date, so it never slides back a day west of Greenwich.

Good practice

## Getting the most out of it

1. 01

   Answer on the message

Use Yes, Maybe or No, not a typed reply, so the organiser's calendar records it.
2. 02

   Cancel, do not remove

Cancel meeting tells everyone invited. Remove clears only your own copy.
3. 03

   Fix it before it goes

A queued message stays editable, so fix it on the calendar, not in a follow-up.
