# Move from Mailchimp

Bring your Mailchimp lists, subscribers and unsubscribes across with one key.

## Details

- Migrations → From a provider reads a Mailchimp account with an API key, the kind that ends in its data centre, such as -us6. Every list becomes an audience, every subscribed member arrives as a contact in it, and unsubscribed and cleaned addresses go on Blocked addresses as unsubscribes and bounces.
- Templates come across only in part. Mailchimp hands over the editable sections of your own templates and not their layout, so each one arrives as an unpublished draft with an empty subject and a note that the layout stayed behind. Campaigns, automations and webhooks are not brought across, and domains come back as a list of names to add here.
- The key is held encrypted only while the import runs, and erased when it finishes, fails or is cancelled. Running it twice duplicates nothing, and the report is kept under History.
- There is no drop-in endpoint for Mailchimp’s own API, so mail is sent with the REST API or the SDK. The import itself also runs over the REST API as POST /provider-imports, on the SDK as providerImports.create and on the command line as openemail provider-imports create with --provider-key.
