# Delete a thread for good

Every message in it, with its attachments. There is no undo.

`DELETE /threads/{id}`

## DELETE /threads/{id}

Every message in it, with its attachments. There is no undo.

## Example

Needs `threads:write`. It is what Delete from Bin does in the app.

**curl**

```
curl -X DELETE "$OE/threads/thr_7c1e4a90" -H "$AUTH"
```

**Response**

```
{ "object": "thread", "id": "thr_7c1e4a90", "deleted": true }
```

> It works on a thread in any folder. To throw a thread away and keep a way back, use `POST /threads/{id}/trash` instead.

> A 500 `thread_delete_failed` means nothing was removed, so the call is safe to repeat.
