# Copy a signature to other addresses

Put the same signature on other addresses, replacing the one with the same name there.

`POST /signatures/{id}/copy`

## POST /signatures/{id}/copy

Put the same signature on other addresses, replacing the one with the same name there.

## Example

Needs `settings:write`. `addresses` takes 1 to 500 addresses or catch-alls.

**curl**

```
curl -X POST "$OE/signatures/sig_8f2c1a9b7d3e4f60a1b2c3d4/copy" -H "$AUTH" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "addresses": ["sales@acme.com", "support@acme.com"], "isDefault": true }'
```

**Response**

```
{
  "object": "list",
  "data": [
    {
      "object": "signature",
      "id": "sig_51c0a7e2b94d4c18a3f6e0d2",
      "address": "sales@acme.com",
      "name": "Short",
      "html": "<p>Ada<br />Acme Ltd</p>",
      "isDefault": true,
      "isReplyDefault": false,
      "createdAt": "2026-10-12T09:20:41.902Z",
      "updatedAt": "2026-10-12T09:20:41.902Z"
    },
    {
      "object": "signature",
      "id": "sig_c9d4e1f07a2b4b6f9e3d5a81",
      "address": "support@acme.com",
      "name": "Short",
      "html": "<p>Ada<br />Acme Ltd</p>",
      "isDefault": true,
      "isReplyDefault": true,
      "createdAt": "2026-10-12T09:20:41.955Z",
      "updatedAt": "2026-10-12T09:20:41.955Z"
    }
  ]
}
```

> An address that already has a signature with the same name, whatever the case, gets its HTML replaced, so copying again after an edit brings every copy up to date. Any other address gets a new signature with that name.

> A copy becomes a default where `isDefault` or `isReplyDefault` is `true`, and both on an address that had no signature at all. Left out, the defaults of the other addresses stay as they are. The address the signature is already on is skipped.

> Each copy is its own signature from then on, with its own id. The copies are written one address at a time, so when an address is full the call fails with 422 `signature_limit_reached` and the addresses before it keep their copy.
