# Read your username

The username of the person and the free address it gives them.

`GET /account/username`

## GET /account/username

The username of the person and the free address it gives them.

## Example

Needs `account:read`. `chosen` says whether the person chose it. One they never chose was made from their name the first time it was read, and they can still choose another once.

**curl**

```
curl "$OE/account/username" -H "$AUTH"
```

**Response**

```
{
  "object": "username",
  "username": "ada.lovelace",
  "chosen": false,
  "address": "ada.lovelace@openemail.uk"
}
```

> `address` is null on a deployment that offers no free address.
